We are honored to announce that our design has been selected as the winner of the "Revitalization of Mituo Fishing Port's Aging Pier" project!
Located in Kaohsiung City, Mituo Fishing Port is renowned for its rich fishing culture and historical significance. However, the aging pier infrastructure has posed challenges in terms of structural integrity and operational efficiency. This revitalization project aims to restore the port’s functionality while integrating modern design elements, transforming it into a landmark that balances utility and tourism appeal.
In this redesign project, we drew inspiration from the imagery of "casting fishing nets into the sea." Through intricate structural details and precise light-and-shadow manipulation, we crafted dynamic, flowing spatial effects that evoke the unique spatial memories of fishermen. By framing specific viewpoints, the design thoughtfully responds to the local cultural context and environmental characteristics, transforming the space into a medium for community interaction. This approach strengthens the connection to local culture while enhancing the functional and aesthetic appeal of the fishing port.
This is not merely a direct sales center for fresh catch; it is also a cultural vessel that preserves local memories and fosters a sense of community. Through this design, we aim to ensure that Mituo Fishing Port continues to celebrate its cultural heritage while embracing a modern and innovative future.
